Merri Robotics

Our First Update!

Welcome to our first update on this website! Since we last spoke, we have come a long way. This website was created, we have attached a bird to our robot, funds have been both raised and granted, and our robot has almost entirely been disassembled!

This website was created by a team of our members, who learnt CSS, some HTML, and the Wagtail Content Management System. This is still being worked on, with some formatting issues regarding the size of some images and the colour of some headings (see this page, unless it has been fixed).

The Pigeon 2.0 is a device containing a gyroscopic sensor, magnetometer and accelerometer. We did not actually staple a bird to our robot. After some difficulties updating the firmware, we have managed to get one working, opening the possibility of adding autonomous movements.

The Merri Robotics Club ran a bake sale at the Coburg Farmers Market, raising around $1200 by selling cakes and fudges alike. Through grants such as the Community Participation Grant and the Organisational Establishment Grant, resulting in a total of $8700 this year and $6000 each year over the next two! (BIG thank you to our Sponsors!!)

Finally, our once magnificent robot has been disassembled in order to rework it to use all new motors and a new design ready for the upcoming competition!
